Description

The ATS Diesel A50 to T87 Transmission Control Module Upgrade (TCM) that will replace the bad TCM in your 2011-2014 GM 6.6L Duramax LML 4WD. All GM Duramax-powered trucks built from 2006 to 2017 with the Allison 6-speed automatic transmission used the A50 and A40 TCM. The A50 and A40’s support was ended in 2022, according to a letter from Allison (SIL 15-1K2K-22). Due to this, more than 10,000 owners of Duramax trucks were left without a way to fix them. 

One of the weak points of the Allison transmission is the A40 and A50 transmission control modules that are used to operate it. Due to their propensity to come into contact with one another, the sensitive, thin wires inside the TCM short out the entire module. 

In order to get these vehicles back on the road with improved shifting and holding power, ATS set to work designing a solution using their Translator technology. The GM Allison T87A which replaces the old A50, is an improved TCM module that ATS releasing with much excitement. The T87a TCM, which is found on the current 2023 Duramax, has a processor that is substantially faster than the A50, which results in better shift quality, quicker shifting, and increased drivability. The updated TCM is packaged in an assembly with ATS’ Translator module and their built-in Co-Pilot transmission features.
