The Hamilton Cams 07-C-178/208S Steel Camshaft that offers greater power in the lower RPM range for your 1989-2018 Dodge Ram 5.9/6.7L Cummins. This steel camshaft is an excellent upgrade to increase all-around efficiency and will work with any size turbo. If your truck is frequently driven at high altitudes, or if you spend a lot of time driving at lower RPMs, this camshaft will greatly improve drivability.

Although this camshaft is considered a drop-in replacement, it is important to check clearances. The 1989-1998 Cummins 12v will need no more than .025″ piston protrusion and at least .055″ valve face depth with a standard head gasket. In 1998.5 – 2002 Cummins applications, you will need no more than .025″ piston protrusion and a minimum of .038″ valve face depth with a standard gasket. The 2003 to 2018 Cummins engines will need .018″piston protrusion and a minimum of .038″ valve face depth with a standard gasket. If you do not meet the requirements for the piston to valve clearance, you can still run an oversize head gasket or cut valve reliefs.

The Steel construction of this camshaft requires you to run steel tappets and machine the engine block bushings.
